The Kok-Su (Blue water) River runs through the Almaty region. Its sources are located in glaciers of Zhungar Alatau. The river (150-200 kilometers long) passes the mountain area. The main nutrition is icy and snowy. Water discharge in Kok-Su river is 30 m cubes. The freshet (melting) starts in May - June, reach a maximum of 55 m cubes, difference of an altitude is 18 m per km. Category of complexity ranges from 4 to 5.

Expansion of alloy is 150 kilometers, duration is 8-10 days. Seasonal prevalence July - September. To start alloy it is possible to start from a settlement, Rudnichny, and to finish at the settlement Kirovsk.
